Zedu Weekly Wrap – 23 January 2026

Happy New Year and welcome to 2026 🎉…

We hope you managed to squeeze in a proper break, maybe a bit of sunshine, good food, or at least a few uninterrupted coffees. January has that familiar buzz about it. New plans, fresh diaries, and just enough motivation to think, “Yep, this is the year I’ll really double down on my ultrasound skills.”

And if you needed a reminder of why ultrasound matters as much as it does, this week’s reading delivers in spades.

First up, a fascinating piece from MedPage Today (22 January) reporting that astronauts on the International Space Station relied on ultrasound during a real medical crisis. No CT. No MRI. No specialist down the corridor. Just ultrasound, good training, and remote expert guidance. It’s a powerful reminder that when access is limited and stakes are high, ultrasound is often the tool that quietly saves the day.

Second, a new paper from Ryan Steinberg and Chad Tracy (21 January) in the Canadian Journal of Urology explores how point-of-care ultrasound is currently used in urology and how clinicians think it should be used. The gap between practice and potential is striking, and it mirrors what we see across many specialties. Plenty of opportunity, plenty of appetite, and a clear case for better training and integration.

As we roll into the year ahead, these papers set the tone nicely. Ultrasound is no longer a nice-to-have. It’s a core clinical skill, whether you’re on Earth, in orbit, or anywhere in between.

And yes, if you can combine your learning with the AO, the Grand Prix, or a laugh at the Comedy Festival, we fully support that too.

Here’s to a big year of scanning.

Make 2026 your year of ultrasound and check out our range of
scheduled and one-on-one options that will get you scanning like a pro.

Plus – as the cultural capital of Australia – why not tie in a bit of training with a touch of AO tennis, speed through at the Melbourne GP or have a laugh at the International Comedy Festival.

If you know the value of protected learning time, secure your place early.

P.S. – don’t forget – if something doesn’t quite fit your learning objectives or availability we can design and deliver a program that meets your needs. Don’t tell everyone though – availability is limited.
